On 13th October 2012 thirty cyclists left Axminster in Devon and rode 769 miles to the Slow Food Salone del Gusto festival in Turin, Italy, in memory of Philippa Corbin. We rode to raise awareness of depression and raise funds for two charities.

Day 8 – Bourbon Lancy to Clayette (47 Miles)

Specialities: Escargot, Grenouille, Pochouse (river fish), Crudites, Boeuf Bourguignon, Coq au Vin, Ile Flottante (floating island pudding) and lots more.

Philly’s favourite colour yellow illuminated the day for us all yesterday.  Those yellow hi-viz jackets are a joy for the support team to see. We spot them as our cyclists  swiftly gain ground, some of them knocking up 20 mph, and for the boys, much for at times!  Support team have to be pretty nifty to catch them at times.  Gabriel’s yellow gazebo for lunch and verge- side yellow toadflax to wave us  on the way. For some  it was a 100 mile plus day… and thankfully  everyone made it!

A flattish start to the ride today as we head towards the pretty, yet much  hillier area of  the Brionnais: big beef country, Charolais country.  We hope a little time today to explore the La Clayette, it’s castle and surround….perhaps a little Kir to celebrate we’re over half way.

Perhaps snails on the menu tonight!
