Welcome!

On 13th October 2012 thirty cyclists left Axminster in Devon and rode 769 miles to the Slow Food Salone del Gusto festival in Turin, Italy, in memory of Philippa Corbin. We rode to raise awareness of depression and raise funds for two charities.

Day 7 – Assigny to Bourbon Lancy (93 Miles)

Specialities;  Crottin de Chavignoi, Fresh water Fish, Green Lentils

FRENCH ECONOMY SOARS as Team SRTT sweep through the rural villages clearing boulangerie shelves of bread, croissants and cafe.

It’s just after 6am.  The early birds are arriving downstairs   to build up their energy for the day ahead. I hear Rachel saying “only 90 miles today”. Boulanger arriving at 7.30am with fresh breakfast bread.

A few hills  start this long day, but then the route pleasingly  levels out and follows the gently winding  wine roads of The Loire.  Sancerre, red-roofed, sits prettily on a chalky hilltop, but the route sweeps around this bastion of  Sauvignon Blanc land. Names we know Pouilly-Fume, Fleury, floral, aromatic…. so close, yet so far.
