On 13th October 2012 thirty cyclists left Axminster in Devon and rode 769 miles to the Slow Food Salone del Gusto festival in Turin, Italy, in memory of Philippa Corbin. We rode to raise awareness of depression and raise funds for two charities.

Day 6 – Beaugency to Assigny (67 Miles)

Specialities: Mixed meat pates, cheeses (lots), Cotignac (quince)

Everyone fit and well rested after an evening out in Beaugency.  No incidents in the night (that we know about).  Breakfasting in hostel (with addition of Thursday Cottage Marmalade, marmite and bananas).  Sky bit grey but the trees in the courtyard are quite still – we hope the headwinds have changed to backwinds.  Need  to spend a few minutes to absorb this cobbled street city before we cross the low, many arched bridge over The Loire.

A very  gradual ascent today (flat) along the Sauldre, a tributary of The Loire.   Speeding through pretty villages – Vaiilly sur Sauldre, Isdes to arrive at our Chateau at Assigny…well the farm buildings!
