On 13th October 2012 thirty cyclists left Axminster in Devon and rode 769 miles to the Slow Food Salone del Gusto festival in Turin, Italy, in memory of Philippa Corbin. We rode to raise awareness of depression and raise funds for two charities.

Day 4 – Gorron to Marolles Les Braults (63 Miles)

Speciality:  Rillettes -  best served with crusty bread.  Great for hungry cyclists.

Today the route continues  south-westerly towards the country of The Loire. Still rural countryside, woodlands and long straight roads linking one village to the next where pleached and pollarded lime trees line the village streets.  Not too bad for the cyclists …..maybe time for a coffee and croissant in one of the green shuttered villages or  something stronger.

Food and Recipes

Rich, fatty rillettes from Ambierres les Vallees for lunch, so pleased we bought some.

Regional Pates served with  cucumber relish.

Pork from Ferme de la Forge tonight with scummy cheesy/pork sausages.  Sweet roasted carrots, Puy lentils and green salad with radishes to accompany.  (Gerrard v. good sous Chef this evening).
